1TB hard disk is still very rare on the market. If not wrong, there are only Hitachi and Western Digital selling it in the market. Not long ago, Hitachi expected to release 4TB hard drive in 2011, which is 4 years from now. On last week, Western Digital announced that they have successfully increased the storage density by storing 520 gigabits per square inch.

The density of today is around 200GB per square inch. So, this technology is almost double of the today’s density. Western Digital also promises to have 3TB hard disk by 2010. So, we now can expect maybe every year will gain one more TB extra hard disk in the market.
