The Future Internet: Service Web 3.0

By Korabi On September 1, 2010 Under Internet

Future Internet – Supported by STI International: www.sti2.org With over a billion users, today’s Internet is arguably the most successful human artifact ever created. The Future Internet, an initiative driven by the European Union, has become a prime research focus of STI International and the Service Web 3.0 project. In order to explain, promote, and attract new contributors, we created a video to be viewed by stakeholders, who may be non-experts, in a new generation Internet. The video outlines the basic themes of the European Union’s Future Internet initiative. These include an Internet of Services, where services are ubiquitous; an Internet of Things where in principle every physical object becomes an online addressable resource; a Mobile Internet where 24/7 seamless connectivity over multiple devices is the norm; and the need for semantics in order to meet the challenges presented by the dramatic increase in the scale of content and users. The Internet is set to change drastically in the near future to accommodate every site, application etc. The world is moving in the direction of depending entirely on the Internet from buying milk to chatting with friends of which is already taking place but not at a satisfactory level which brings us to the point of web 3.0 which is set to change the world from what it currently is

Skip Web 3.0 until 9.0 and go straight to Web X, where we have chips connected to our brain and know everything there is to know. Like in the matrix movies, we can just plug in a firewire cable into the back of our head and learn everything without effort.
Everyone would be smart and thus we’d realize we don’t even need the concept of money anymore. In a longrun we will lose our legs because we don’t need them anymore to hunt.

Soon smarter bots will trawl the net linking our photos and entire life on the net. As things stand it’s a free for all, employers, friends, neighbour, enemy’s, potential partners, government’s etc can make judgements on you.. Who knows how the political, business, social and culture will change. We all have different attitudes and free to secretly discriminate. As googles ceo, said we are all in for a big shock.

Its going to be very entertaining to compare the predictions laid out in this video with the reality of the internet in 10 years. Or as I call it – the frinkahedron.
    .
Hope youtube will still be around/free by then.
    .
On a more critical note, despite the snazzy pictures/the sexy narration, the content of this video is actually quite jejune. They’re not saying very much beyond “MORE ORGANIZATION. EVERYTHING WILL BE CONNECTED”
    .
The first point is questionable and the latter is already true.
