Skype CEO steps down

Skype was acquired by Ebay in late 2005 for $2.6 billion. Till recently, Skype CEO also co-founder Niklas Zennstrom will step down. However, he will still become non-executive chairman of the board of directors.

This is clearly that Ebay is unhappy with the revenue performance of Skype. The expected revenue is $1.7 billion, but Skype could hardly meet the target and settled for just $530 million. It is just 1/3 of the total amount.

Currently, Skype have 220 million registered users, it has steadily grown 94 percent compared to the same quarter in 2006.
