Google Starts Pay Per Action

Friday 22 June 2007 @ 12:32 am

From the orignal Pay-Per-Click, now Google has finally launched its Pay Per Action beta on Google Adwords for advertisers. Advertisers are able to define action to be completed on their site before publishers to get their pay. Such action as purchase, signs up for a newsletter, or completes any other clearly defined action. So, compare to the current Pay-Per-Click model, of course publishers expect to earn more from it.

So, does it make publishers to earn more or less? In my opinion, I think for smaller sites pay per click is surely still be the main stream of earning, but for large site with plenty of traffic flow, pay per action will surely give their income a boost. However, I’m pessimistic that the price for pay per click will drop lower, since advertisers all hope to gain more genuine clicks from visitors.

Although currently the advertising model is still in beta but according to Google:

Starting today, advertisers in the beta will see an alert in their AdWords account informing them that they can now create pay-per-action campaigns. Going forward, advertisers who have enabled AdWords conversion tracking and received more than 500 conversions from their CPC and CPM-based campaigns in the past 30 days will be automatically added to the beta on a rolling basis.
